Short Course At the ELTC Nilai N9 ( Teaching Language Through Literature )

Asalamualaikum and Hello everyone,
On 7 of April 2016, me and my classmates went to ELTC which stands for the English Language Teaching Centre located in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan (MY). We departed from UKM (National University Of Malaysia) approximately at 12.00pm and arrived at ELTC about 45minutes later. And we departed back to UKM at 6.00pm and arrived at UKM about 1hour later.

Well basically what we did there ?
First, we did what were called "Reader Response Methodology"
We were asked about our own understanding about these two sentences :
1. Life is a stage and each and one of us are mere actors and actresses..
2. A woman by any other name is still a woman..

Next, we did "Life's Relay" or known as Best Practices
in this section we are learning the elements of literature study that consists of
a) Theme
b) Plot
c) Subject matter
d) Characters
e) Setting

OK...next activity are really fun. Called 'UKM IDOL 2016"
We are exposed to 3 different parts which are the voice, the emotion, and the physical reaction to certain situation.

Move on, we did "Readers' Theatre" which to test our reading fluency.
We were given a script of a play then in our respective group we were given the same character but different with the other groups. Meaning the other groups get their own character.

Last but not least, we did the "Shadow Play" or known as Wayang Kulit
there are 4 main elements in playing this which are
1. White Sheet
2. Torch Light
3. Characters
4. Tok Dalang

And right after everything was done, we have our group photo session and we were invited to have a tea outside of the library before going back to UKM. Btw thank you to everyone especially respective lecturers from the ELTC for having us especially Dr.T. Vanitha and Dr.Rashidah for preparing such a great slot for all of us. Not forgotten, thank you so much to Dr.Maslawati, Dr.Hamidah, and Cik Azlina (our UKM lecturers) and last but not least my classmates who are really giving their best in making this trip a success AND also the bus drivers for taking us there and also the catering for preparing delicious kuih-muih for us.
